Ibernature Andalusia is the dream-come-true and brainchild of Simon Harding, a long term and permanent resident in Andalusia. Simon, originally from St. Albans (Hertfordshire), arrived in Seville in 1990 to perfect his Spanish following successful completion of a 4 year joint honours degree in Spanish and French at Liverpool Polytechnic (now John Moores University).
Due to his fascination with all things Spanish, combined with his love for nature and the countryside, he immediately began to travel extensively, spending and enjoying most of his free time to get to know the most southerly region in Spain from North to South and East to West. After a quarter of a century exploring, tasting, learning about and living Andalusia, Simon offers anyone with an interest in this most emblematic of Spanish regions, the opportunity of getting to know not just the cities, towns and villages of the 8 provinces that make up Andalusia, but also to understand local history, culture, music, gastronomy and even politics.
Ibernature Andalusia is a legally constituted and certified tour operator in compliance with regional and national legal stipulations, which means that it can and does create its own products and services, ranging from a one day excursion to a full circuit including transport, accommodation and guiding lasting several days or even weeks. Ibernature Andalusia has close personal and professional links with hotels, restaurants, coach companies, specialist guides and companies that can offer unique experiences, all of which combined lead to memorable holidays or educational trips.
Simon is bilingual English-Spanish, and has wide experience teaching both English to Spaniards as well as Spanish to non-Spaniards, another option for visitors or students with a particular interest in the language who may wish to live Andalusia from the perspective of total language immersion. Simon is married to Eva, whose physical appearance may not conjure up a picture of an authentic “andaluza” (Andalusian woman), but she is most definitely of Seville origin, and yet an excellent English speaker and understanding of the northern European idiosyncrasies!
The general philosophy of Ibernature Andalusia is that of offering a combination of elements such as walking, visits to typical towns and villages, historic buildings, local food and drink, and carefully chosen accommodation to maximise the experience. This said, any thematic trip can be quoted to satisfy specific interests, such as ornithology, botany, public and private gardens, history, architecture, hiking, and a never ending etcetera.
